How It Works

We've done our best to make LivesOnRecord as simple and hassle-free as possible.

 There are 3 simple steps

  1. Choose whose life is going to be put on record, whether it be yourself, spouse, a parent etc.
  2. Our LivesOnRecord presenter records a relaxed interview with them at their house (or, if it is more convenient, at our Westminster offices) on the subject of their life so far; stories, key moments from their past, future hopes.
  3. After the interview has been edited, we present them/you with a beautifully bound box holding the compact-disc (CD) with the c.60 minute programme on it.

A little more detail...

  • No two interviews are the same. We gather biographical detail before the interview so as to compile the best questions. To do this we send through a simple questionnaire to one or two friends and family to ensure their input goes into the recording, too.
  • In the weeks before the interview, the interviewee picks 6 of their favourite things, normally music but it can be books, art, quotations or people (perhaps a mixture), and gives us single sentence explanations of the choices. Choosing tends to be fun and people can spend weeks changing their mind...If they choose music, we play the choices in the final recording.
